Kevin “Frenchy” French Obituary, FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Kevin “Frenchy” French, a beloved friend, brother, bartender and former football player, passed away on August 26, 2026. News of his passing was shared with friends and relatives, prompting an outpouring of remembrance from people whose lives he touched in Southwest Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale.
French was remembered as someone who had been a longtime part of the lives of several friends dating back to his childhood. Those who knew him recalled their shared years from Cecil Street to 58th Street, Barney’s, 71 WC and 75, as well as the years that followed after he moved to Fort Lauderdale.
Based on to the tribute shared by his friend, French was an incredible friend and a formidable football player. His connection to the Southwest Philadelphia community remained strong throughout his life, even after relocating to Florida roughly 50 years ago.
After moving to Fort Lauderdale, French established several new friendships and became a familiar and respected presence in the local neighborhood. His work behind the bar at Fort Lauderdale Beach, the Parrot and Bahia Cabana brought him into contact with thousands of people over the years.
His niece, Katie, described the lasting impression French made on those who visited the area. She recalled that he was the person behind the bar who remembered customers, their drinks and their stories, while also asking about their families and finding a way to make them laugh even on a difficult day.
French was widely remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and positive spirit. Those qualities, based on to the tribute, remained with him through his final days and supported define the relationships he built throughout his life.
His passing has left relatives members and friends in both Southwest Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale mourning the loss of someone who had become a familiar and cherished part of their lives. He will be remembered by his loved ones and the thousands of friends who knew him over the years.
