Richard Newman Obituary, CAMP HILL, Pa. — Richard Newman, 68, has lost his life after he was found unresponsive inside his prison cell at SCI Camp Hill in Pennsylvania on Friday morning.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, facility staff discovered Newman unresponsive and immediately started providing life-saving measures. Medical personnel were also called to the facility as efforts continued to save his life.
Despite the efforts of staff and medical personnel, Newman was pronounced dead at approximately 8:55 a.m. His death has prompted an probe as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding his final moments.
Newman had been in custody since 2010 and was serving a maximum sentence of 47 years following an attempted murder conviction in Lancaster County. His minimum release date had been October 2021.
